I know everyone is on the healthy eating bandwagon these days. Vegan, Paleo, Gluten-Free, Organic, etc. There's nothing wrong with any of those. We should all be mindful of what we put in our bodies, but sometimes you just want a BIG MAC and you don't have to feel TOTALLY guilty about it. When those cravings come, I just make my own using local, grass-fed beef, fresh, greens, etc for my Copycat Big Mac Recipe. It is super simple and tastes even better than the real thing! I can't wait to share with you how I do it so...
Let's Get Started!
Copycat Big Mac Recipe:
*Prep Time: 5 min. *Cook Time: 6-8 min. *Difficulty: Easy *Servings 4 Burgers
Ingredients:
- 2 lb. Ground Beef
- Romaine Lettuce, finely chopped
- 8 Slices of American Cheese
- 8 Brioche Buns
- Thousand Island Dressing
To begin you will need to portion out the ground beef into 8 VERY THIN patties.
Then season them on both sides with salt and pepper.
Before heading out to the grill, you will want to slather the buns with mayo.
This will help them brown and add great flavor.
And I know what you're thinking, "Big Macs have sesame seed buns." Personally I love a brioche bun on a burger, so that's what I use. If you're a purist in the realm of burgerdom feel free to go sesame. This is a judgement free zone. We are all friends here.
Time to cook the beef!
Over a medium/high heat grill the patties for 3-4 minutes.
(I did 3)
Then flip and cook for another 3-4.
(Again I did 3)
Now I turn the heat off, place a slice of cheese on each patty, and put the buns on the grill to toast.
Once the cheese is melted and you have grill marks on the bread you can remove them from the grill.
Time to assemble the burger!
Place a bottom portion of your bun on the plate.
Add some thousand dressing and shredded lettuce.
Then place the patty on top.
Now place another bottom portion of bun on top of the patty.
Then place the patty on the bun.
Add the lettuce.
Drizzle on the dressing,
And top with the bun.
And there it is! Your very own, homemade, Copycat Big Mac Recipe! I'm not making this up...it's better than the real thing! You can serve it up with some delicious Homemade Fries or Chips So tonight head on out to the grill and give this recipe a try! Also, I would love to hear about some of your favorite copycat recipes!
And as always....
